Connect or Change Availability Control ID

Explanation

The availability control ID is connected to inventory part in stock records and is used for determining availability. This functionality is useful, for example, to perform a modification or a test before using or selling the part. It can also be used when a part is being taken out of stock.

If an availability control ID is already connected to an inventory part in stock record, you can change the connection or completely remove it. If the inventory part in stock record does not have a connection, you can make a new one. When you enter an availability control ID for an inventory part in stock record, it is valid from that moment forward. This means that demands and purchase orders that are already entered will not be affected.

Availability control can also be applied for a handling unit and then all the inventory part in stock records connected to that handling unit ID inherit the applied availability control ID.

Prerequisites

• An availability control ID must have been entered in IFS/Inventory, Inventory Basic Data/Part Availability Controls.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• An availability control ID is connected to, changed, or removed from an inventory part in stock record.
• The parameter settings for the availability control will determine what can be done with inventory at inventory locations that are associated with the availability control ID.
• When applied on a handling unit it is all the inventory part in stock records attached to that HU and its underlying structure that will have the new availability control ID.

From the Inventory Part in Stock window.

1. Open the Inventory Part In Stock window.
2. Either query for the inventory part in stock records or select Populate.
3. Select the line with the inventory part in stock record to which you want to connect an availability ID or to which you want to change the connection. You can verify if there already is an availability ID connected in the Availability Control ID column.
4. In the operations menu select Change Availability Control ID to open the Change Availability Control ID window. If you are changing an availability control which already is connected, you can view the old ID and description in the upper part of the window. Otherwise, the fields in this part of the window are empty.
5. Enter an availability control ID in the lower part of the window. You also can use the List of Values to select an availability control. If you would like to completely remove an availability control ID, leave this part of the window empty.
6. Click OK to make the changes.

From the Handling Unit window:

1. Open the Handling Unit window.
2. Query for an existing handling unit.
3. Click the Structure tab to view the handling unit structure details.
4. Right-click on the handling unit and and then click Change Availability Control ID.
5. Enter the new availability control ID in the dialog. You also can use the List of Values to select an availability control. If you would like to completely remove an availability control ID, leave this part of the window empty.
6. Click OK to make the changes.
