Change Parent Handling Unit ID

Explanation

This activity is used to change the ID of the parent handling unit.

Note: When changes are made to the handling unit structure, it is important to reprint documents and labels. This will therefore ensure, correct documents and labels that include information based on the changed structure.

Prerequisites

A handling unit must have been created.

Procedure

From Handling Unit window:

  1. Open the Handling Unit window.
  2. Query for an existing handling unit.
  3. Click the Structure tab to view the handling unit structure details.
  4. In the Structure/Handling Units tab, select the required handling unit record(s).
  5. Right-click and then click Change Parent Handling Unit ID. Set NULL value to remove parent.
  6. On the dialog box that appears, enter the ID of the new parent handling unit or select it from the List of Values.
  7. Click OK.

An alternative way to change parent handling unit ID from the Handling Unit window is using drag and drop:

  1. Query for an existing handling unit.
  2. Open the Handling Unit/Structure tab.
  3. Expand the handling unit structure to view the handling units that should be moved.
  4. Drag the handling unit to the preferred handling unit folder.

From Handling Unit in Stock window:

  1. Either query for the handling unit ID records or click Populate.
  2. Select the handling unit(s) for which the parent handling unit should be changed. Set NULL value to remove parent.
  3. Right-click and then click Change Parent Handling Unit ID.
  4. On the dialog box that appears, enter the ID of the new parent handling unit or select it from the List of Values.
  5. Click OK.

From Shipment window:

  1. Open the Shipment window and search for your shipment.
  2. In the Handling Unit Structure/Handling Units tab, select the required handling unit record(s).
  3. Right-click and then click Change Parent Handling Unit ID.
  4. On the dialog box that appears, enter the ID of the new parent handling unit or select it from the List of Values.
  5. Click OK.

An alternative way to change parent handling unit ID from the Shipment window is using drag and drop:

  1. Query for an existing handling unit.
  2. Open the Handling Unit Structure/Handling Units tab.
  3. Expand the handling unit structure to view the handling units that should be moved.
  4. Drag the handling unit to the preferred handling unit folder.

Note: When changing parent handling unit within the handling unit structure, handling units with different contents cannot be placed on a homogeneous handling unit.
