Review Material Plan Warnings

Explanation

Use this activity to review material plan warnings. Material plan warnings give information about possible changes done after the creation of the material plan or changes that might prevent supply request to be created. It might require a re-run of material plan and gross requirement calculation: Generate Material Plan. Already created supply requests might have to be cancelled and recreated, like this Cancel Supply Request, Create Supply Request for Shop Order Plan and Create Supply Request for Purchase Requisition Plan. Material plan warnings are shown in Project Deliverables Navigator/Materials/Material Plans tab and aren't not the same as warnings on material requirements in Project Deliverables/Materials/Material Requirements tab. Warnings on material requirements give information that prevents the material plan to be created, while material plan warnings give information about things that have happened after the creation of the material plan, and changes done after the latest run of gross requirement calculation. Examples of some of the information that might be shown in material plan warnings field:

• Item is not approved and it will prevent supply request to be created.
• The deliverable structure has been modified and it requires a re-run of material plans and gross requirement calculation.

The following material plan warnings might also require a re-run of material plans, re-run of gross requirement calculation and/or already created supply request to be cancelled and recreated:

• Default site has been modified.
• Project activity has been modified.
• Project activity date has been modified.
• The procurement has been modified.
• The supply option has been modified
• The quantity per assembly information has been modified.
• The part has been modified.
• Supplier has been modified.
• Delivery address has been modified.
• Ownership has been modified.
• Purchase UoM has been modified.
• The no part option on the item has been modified.
• Configuration has been modified.
• Material supply has been modified.

Prerequisites

Any of the above situations should be valid.

System Effects

A material plan without any material plan warnings enables material supply to be created with accurate information.

Procedure

1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and populate it with values.
2. Open the Materials/Material Plans tab
3. Review information in the Material Plan Warning field.
4. A material plan might now have to be updated, as described here: Generate Material Plan.
5. Already created material supply might have to be cancelled and recreated, as described here: Cancel Supply Request, Create Supply Request for Shop Order Plan and Create Supply Request for Purchase Requisition Plan.

Tips! Identify these warnings easily, by adding a personalized formatting on the Material Plan Warning field. For example, add a background color on the field when any warning exist. (Right-click Material Plan Warning column header and select Conditional Formatting option.)
