Review Warnings

Explanation

Use this activity to review warnings on the material requirement before generating the material plan. Some materials might be missing information, and it could prevent material plan to be successfully created. These warnings are shown in Project Deliverables Navigator/Materials/Material Requirements tab and are not the same as material plan warnings in Project Deliverables Navigator/Materials/Material Plan tab. Warnings in Project Deliverables Navigator/Materials/Material Requirements tab give information that prevents material plan to be created, while material plan warnings give information about information changed after the material plan was created or after supply requests was created. The following could prevent a material plan to be successfully created and are shown as warnings:

• Project activity for the material is missing.
• Inventory, purchase part or no part is missing.
• Inventory child part is missing.
• Inventory part demand is not allowed.
• Supply option is missing.
• Project activity is missing.
• Configuration is incomplete.
• Configuration structure is incomplete.

Note : Apart from above warnings , below warnings are displayed after doing gross requirement calculation if required date or latest order date is out side the activity span. This gives a warning to user to adjust activity planning if required.

• Required Date is out of activity span
• Latest Order Date is out of activity span

Prerequisites

Important information on project deliverable items are missing and prevents the material plan to be successfully created.

System Effects

A material list without warnings enables the material plan to be successfully created.

Procedure

1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and populate it with values.
2. Open the Materials/Material Requirements tab
3. Review information in the Warnings field.
4. Correct any warnings, by adding missing inventory part, project activity etc.
5. A material plan can now be created as described here: Generate Material Plan.

Tips! Identify these warnings easily, by adding a personalized formatting on the Warning field. For example, add a background color on the field when any warning exist. (Right-click Warning column header and select Conditional Formatting option.)
