Connect Existing Stop Event
Explanation
Use this activity to connect one or more stop events to
the selected stop event record. The success of stop event connections depend
on the stop event type defined for the events.
- When you want to connect a stop event as
underlying another stop event, the underlying stop event must have the stop
event type No Production Loss.
- When you want to connect several stop events to
each other on the same level of the structure, all stop events must have the
stop event type No Production Loss.
Prerequisites
- Information for the selected stop event as well as
the stop event to be connected must be saved before you can proceed with the
connection.
- The stop event type must be No Production Loss for
the stop event which is to be connected as an underlying event.
- The stop event type must be No Production Loss for
all stop events that will be connected at the same level.
System Effects
- One or more stop events will be connected to the
selected stop event record.
- The event numbers for the connected stop events
will be displayed in the Connected Events field found in the
Stop Event window.
- If you view a stop event underlying another stop
event in the structure, the ID of the parent event can be viewed in the
Connected Parent field. Note: This field will only be visible
when a parent exists for the chosen stop event record.

Procedure
Use the following procedure to connect an existing stop
event to the selected stop event record:
- Open the Stop Event window and identify the stop event you
want.
- Right-click on the Connected Events field,
and then click Connect Stop. The Connect Stop dialog
box opens. Select the stop event you want and then click OK to close
the dialog box.
- Save your changes.
Use the following procedure to query for a stop event
via the Search functionality. This procedure can be used, for instance, when you know the
ID of the stop event you want:
- Open the Search navigator by clicking Search
on
the toolbar.
- In the Search For list, click Stop. Enter necessary
information in the Search Criteria area and click Search.
- The Stop Event Overview window opens
with the search result(s).
- Select the row that holds the event you want,
right-click and then click Show Details. The
Stop Event
window opens with information for the selected event.
- Right-click on the Connected Events field,
and then click Connect Stop. The Connect Stop dialog
box opens. Select the stop event you want and then click OK to close
the dialog box.
- Save your changes.
Note: It is also possible to view information
for a particular stop event, disconnect a stop event or create/connect a new
stop event by using the the relevant right mouse button options available in the
Connected Events field.
