Replace All to Alternate Components

Explanation

This activity is used to replace shop order component parts with alternate components. The system replaces the all possible components according to the alternate component setup. You cannot manually pick alternate components. The option to replace all to alternate components will be available only if a sufficient quantity exists for at least one alternate component. The shop order components will be replaced with the alternate components. Only nettable inventory quantities will be considered

Prerequisites

To perform this activity, alternate components must exist.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the main components will be replaced with the alternate components. When replacing a main component, the alternate component having the lowest sequence number will be considered first.

Note: The scrap component values on the Alternate Component will be fetched from its inventory part record rather than from the part it replaces. The check box for lot/batch origin will be unselected when the main component is replaced with an alternate component.

Procedure

To replace the component parts with alternate parts for a single shop order:

1. Open the Shop Order window.
2. Query for the part number.
3. Right-click on the header, point to Material Action and click Replace All to Alternate Components.

To replace the component parts with alternate parts for multiple shop orders:

1. Open the Shop Orders or Production Line Management/Shop Orders window.
2. Select multiple shop orders.
3. Right-click on the header, point to Material Action and click Replace All to Alternate Components.

To replace the component parts with alternate parts for multiple shop orders using the Shop Orders Material Planning window:

1. Open the Shop Orders Material Planning window.
2. Select multiple shop orders.
3. Right-click on the header, point to Material Action and click Replace All to Alternate Components.

To replace the component parts with alternate parts for multiple shop orders using the Visualization View.

1. Open a visualizer enabled window and query for the site needed.
2. If the Data View is displayed, click Visualization View on the title bar.
3. Right-click and click Select Visualization. The Select Visualization dialog box is opened.
4. Double-click Shop Orders Material Availability Summary, Shop Order Material Lines Availability, Shop Orders Material Availability, Shop Order Material Demand - Supplies Cover Demand, Shop Order Material Demand - Need Orders or Shop Order Material Demand - Shortage.
5. Right-click on a material availability type and click Replace All to Alternate Components.
