Return Rental Assets from Work Order
Explanation
When rental items are issued to a work task from
standard or project inventory, return lines will be created automatically on the
Work Task/Returns
and
Report In Work Order/Returns
tabs.
The parts can be returned to inventory after the rental
period by using these return lines.
Prerequisites
The parts must have been issued from the inventory to the
work order.
System Effects
- The values of the Quantity Returned and Quantity to
Return fields on the Return tab will be updated.
- Inventory part in stock record will be updated.
- If the issued assets had been rented in from a
supplier, then you are asked whether you want to directly return parts
to the supplier.

Procedure
- Open the Work Task window and query for
the work task that you want to return and go to the
Returns tab. Alternatively you can query for
the work order in
Report In Work
Order and go to Returns
tab.
- Highlight the return lines, right-click
and click Return Parts to Inventory. If you have selected a single
line, the Return Part to Inventory dialog box will appear, if
you have selected multiple lines, Return Parts to Inventory
dialog box will appear.
- On the Return Part to Inventory
dialog box, on the Location No field, enter the inventory location to which you want to
receive parts or click List to select a suitable location and on the
Quantity Returned field specify the quantity to be returned. You
can also create a new line on the dialog box to specify the quantity
returned and the location number. On the Return Parts to Inventory
dialog box, make sure you have the correct quantity on the Quantity to Return
field and on the Location No field specify the location or click
List to select a suitable Location.
- Click OK.
