Review Tag and Tracking Information

Explanation

Use this activity to review tags with serial information. Tag information can have been created in the following ways:

• Tag numbers can be manually assigned on items and without serial information. Tags without serial information will be created as functional objects, once copied to Equipment.
• Tags with serial information can be automatically created on items. This happens if the serials have been reserved on items and once purchase order or shop order is fully processed, and serials are received into inventory. Serial information is created as described here, Reserve Serial Number. Tags with serial information will be created as serial objects, once copied to Equipment.
• Tags with serial information can also be manually created on items if the part on project deliverable item, is defined to only manage After Delivery Serial Tracking, as described here: Enable Part for Serial Tracking. In this situation, all other serial tracking options are disabled.

Prerequisites

All the following must have been done:

• Serial information must have been created, as described here, Reserve Serial Number.
• Purchase order or shop order must have been fully processed, as described here:  Initiate Purchase, Manage Purchase and Shop Order Planning.
• Serials must have been received into inventory, as described here: Register Arrivals and Receive shop order.
• Issue material enables serial objects to be created, once copied to Equipment. Material can be issued in one of the following ways:
  • Issued to a shop order, as described here: Issue shop order components .
  • Issued to a shipment, as described here: Shipment Delivery.
  • Issued as misc part demand on a project activity, as described here: Issue from Inventory to Project.
  • Issued to a work order, as described here: Issue Material.
• Deliverables must have been set to complete status, as described here: Complete Item:
  • Manually entering of tag information is allowed, once item status is set to Completed.
  • Serial information in Project Deliverables Navigator/Tags tab is shown, once item status is set to Completed.

System Effects

The following system effects are valid:

• Tags with serial information in Project Deliverables Navigator/Tags tab are created, once the material is received into inventory.
• Tags with serial information are show in tags tab, once item status is set to Completed.
• Manually assigning tags on items can done, once tags are defined on project deliverable definition and if item status is set to Completed.
• It's only possible to assign a tag one time. Already assigned tags disappear from the List of Values.
• Tags without serials information enables functional objects to be created.
• Tags with serial information enables serial objects to be created, once the material is issued.

Procedure

Review serial information in Tracking window, as described here: Review Serial and Lot/Batch Information, or follow this procedure:

1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window.
2. Query for project deliverables where serials have been reserved and received.
3. Open  the General tab.
4. Right-click and click Tracking.
5. Review serial information.

Review tags with serial information:

1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window.
2. Query for project deliverables where serials have been reserved and received.
3. Make sure that item status is set to Completed.
4. Open  the Tags tab.
5. Review serial information.

Note: Tags with serial information will be created as serial objects, once copied to Equipment. Tags without serial information will be created as functional objects, once copied to Equipment.
