Create Shipment Plan

Explanation

Use this activity to create shipment plans. A shipment plan can be created in two different ways:

Prerequisites

Item should have been defined with an inventory part and gross requirements should have been calculated to get the correct quantities and dates: Generate Material Plan. The automatic creation of shipment plans requires a top phantom item to be created. The phantom item's component structure, must have been defined with inventory parts.

The same material can be added on several work task plans and shipment plans as longs as the total required quantity isn't exceeded. The total required quantity is calculated when gross requirement calculation is run. The quantity for the same material can be balanced between shipment plans and work task plans, so that it doesn't exceed the total required quantity:

Procedure

Manually create a shipment plan:

  1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and populate it with values.
  2. Open the Planning Items tab.
  3. Create a new record and select execution type Shipment.
  4. Enter a planning item name.
  5. Save the record and notice how a shipment plan is shown in the tree.
  6. Select the shipment plan and open the General tab or select the item and open Project Deliverables Navigator/Shipments/Shipment Plan tab.
  7. Enter Customer ID and Shipment Type or select from List of Values.
  8. Enter optional information about planned ship date, planned delivery data etc.
  9. Save the record.
  10. Select shipment plan, in the tree and open the Shipment Parameters tab.
  11. Enter optional information about forward agent ID, delivery terms etc.
  12. Save the record.

Create shipment plans for a structure:

  1. Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and select a phantom item.
  2. Make sure that the phantom item has an underlying component structure and where components are defined with inventory parts.
  3. Open Shipments /Shipment Plans tab.
  4. Right-click and then click Create Shipment Plans.
  5. The number of created shipment plans are shown in a dialog.
  6. Click OK and review the created the created shipment plans.
  7. Enter Customer ID and Shipment Type or select from List of Values.
  8. Enter optional information about planned ship date, planned delivery data etc.
  9. Save the record.
  10. Select shipment plan, in the tree and open the Shipment Parameters tab.
  11. Enter optional information about forward agent ID, delivery terms etc.
  12. Save the record.
