Calculate Lead Time for Routing

Explanation

Use this activity to calculate a part’s manufacturing lead time. The manufacturing lead time is calculated from the default routing and lot size of the part. It considers the setup, move, operation times, and the efficiency factor entered for the operation. The total lead time will be reduced to reflect the operation overlapping if the overlap value is defined for the routing.

Prerequisites

This activity requires a part for which a routing is defined.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• The system changes the manufacturing lead-time values on this routing alternate.
• If the routing alternate is '*', the system also updates the lead times found on the Inventory Part/Manufacturing tab and on the Inventory Part/Acquisition tab.

Procedure

1. Open the Routing window and display the part by populating or by making a selective query.
2. Click the Routings tab.
3. Right-click and then click Calculate Lead Time. The Lead Time Calculation dialog box will be opened.
4. In the Update Options list, click a suitable option. Possible values are: Update, Do not Update and Update Also Expected.
5. Click one of the options under Capacity. The available options are Average and Demonstrated.
6. Under Lead Time Calculation Basis, click a suitable option to determine the lead time for the part.
7. Click OK.
