Define Output Type
Explanation
Use this activity to enter output types and connect existing documents to output types. This task, to be performed by a system
administrator or equivalent person, is mandatory if text is to be printed on any document.
Output type is a collective term for the documents it comprises. Examples of output types are external documents such as
customer order confirmations, customer order delivery notes, customer order invoices, and Purchase, which includes a number of
documents associated with the purchasing function. You can combine predefined documents with different output types.

As a result of this activity:
- Output types are created.
- Documents are connected to output types.
- Document text can be printed on documents, e.g., order headers, order lines, requisitions, requests for quotation, blanket orders, inventory parts, sales parts, service parts, packaged parts, purchase parts, suppliers for a purchase part.

Procedure
- Open the Document Text Administration window.
- On the
Output Types tab, create a new record or
search for an existing one.
- In the Output Type field, enter up to 10 alphanumeric characteristics for the ID. An existing output type ID cannot be modified.
- In the Output Type Description field, enter or edit the description.
- To connect a document to the output type, select the document to connect to the output type from the
Document field List of Values. The Description field is populated.
- Save the changes.
