Unassign Resource from Work Task

Explanation

This activity is used to unassign a resource from a work task. A resource may have been assigned to the work task automatically (if the work task is scheduled by the Schedule Dispatch Service) or by using the Assign option on the work task allocation suggestions in Scheduled Work Tasks. When unassigned the work assignment will be removed and the work task activity will be resent to the Scheduling Engine to be rescheduled. A new resource will be suggested in the allocation plan that is returned to IFS Applications.

Prerequisites

To perform this activity, a work assignment must have been assigned to a resource.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the work assignment will be removed.

Procedure

  1. Open the Scheduled Work Tasks window and query (F3) for the necessary work task number. This activity can also be performed in the Scheduling tab which is found in the Prepare Work Order/Work Task/Scheduling and Work Task/Scheduling/Allocation windows.
  2. Observe that there can be multiple records for the same work task depending on the number of demanded resources for the work to be performed.
  3. Right-click on a record and then click Unassign.

Note: The SDS can unassign work task activities automatically if it is working from rules configured to do this. For example, two hours after the end of a shift, unassign all assigned work task activities that have not yet been started but were due to be started today (this allows for them to be reallocated, the following day). Furthermore, it is also possible to manually unassign work task activities in the Scheduling Workbench.
