Conclude Work Order from Fleet & Asset Management
Explanation
This activity is used to conclude a work order with the connection type
VIM. Once the necessary
information is entered and the work is completed, the work order can be set to
the
Finished status.
A part identity change on serials in Fleet & Asset Management can be achieved when the modification
causing the identity change is embodied through IFS/Work Order Management. If a modification
event (with execution type
Terminating
Action) resulting in a part identity change is distributed as a normal work
order, the serials assigned to and/or affected by the modification will be
renamed automatically with the new part number and revision once the work order
is finished. The system will perform a check to validate the following
information before renaming the serial and setting the modification work order
to the Finished status:
- the new part number is a valid alternate of the
old part number (i.e., if the serial being renamed is installed in a
structure)
- the maintenance program and maintenance group for
the old part number is valid for the new part number (i.e., if a new
maintenance program and revision is not entered for the serial being
renamed)
- the manufacturer and manufacturer part number of
the old part number is valid for the new part number (i.e., when a new
manufacturer and manufacturer part number is not entered for the serial
being renamed)
- the template of the old part number is valid for
the new part number (i.e., if the serial being renamed has a structure)
- all running events for the serial which are
mandatory to cancel have been cancelled or finished with.
- the serial being renamed is not included in a work
scope that is in any status between Started or Closed (i.e., if the serial
is used in a Complex Assembly MRO flow).
This activity can be used to conclude a modification
event
in IFS/Work Order Management, where the modification being concluded introduces
one or more new structure positions into a template structure or removes an
existing structure position from the template structure. When a new structure
position is added to a template structure as a result of a modification, an
empty structure position will be added automatically to the serial structure for
which the modification is embodied. If an existing structure position has become
invalid as a result of the modification, this structure position will be removed
from the template when the modification is embodied. When this is done, the
empty structure position that corresponds with the removed position will be
removed automatically from the serial structure for which the modification is
embodied. Empty structure positions are used to indicate where expected serials
or parts are missing from a serial structure.
When concluding a modification work order, you can
specify the historical records that are to be updated with the new part number
and revision of the serial being renamed. You can choose to update the
operational log history, replacement history, as well as other history records
by selecting the relevant check box. You can also modify the maintenance
program, maintenance group and manufacturer information for the serial as
described in this activity.
Prerequisites
- All work order information must have been reported in.
- All work tasks must be in either Finished or Cancelled
status.
- The actual finish date must have been
specified on the
Report In tab of the
Report in Work
Order window.
The following prerequisites are required when the work
order created for a modification event with execution type Terminating Action and
distribution type Work Order is concluded:
- If the event being finished is a modification event
of execution type Terminating Action and leads to a part identity change, the new part number and revision must have been entered for the
serial. These values can be entered in the
Define Modification/Assign
Part Revisions tab or the
Modification Details/Affected Parts
tab.
- If the modification work is supposed to result in
an automatic part identity change for a serial installed in the structure, the new part number must have been defined
as a valid alternative for the old part number.
- If the event being finished is a modification event
of execution type Terminating Action and leads to a part identity change, a valid manufacturer and manufacturer part number
must exist for the new part number of the serial.
- If the event being finished is a modification event
of execution type Terminating Action and leads to a part identity change, a
valid maintenance program and maintenance group must exist for the new part
number of the serial.
- If the event being finished is a modification event
of execution type Terminating Action and leads to a part identity change, the serial cannot exist on a shop order with a
status between Started and Closed when using a Complex
Assembly MRO flow.
System Effects
- The status
of the work order is set to the Finished status.
- The work order becomes a historical record and can be used for
informational purposes.
- A journal entry is created for this event. Journal entries are generated in the Journal tab found in the
Prepare Work Order and Report In Work Order
windows.
-
If the Execution Logic Structure distribution type was used,
the Work Order Finished check box will be
selected on the Execution Logic Order (ELO) corresponding to the concluded
work order. If the Work Order distribution type was used, the Work
Order Finished check box will be selected for the corresponding event on
the maintenance order.
The following system effects will occur when the work
order created for a modification event of execution type Terminating Action, and
leading to a part identity change is concluded:
- When the work order created for the modification
event leading to a part identity
change is finished, the part number of the
serial will be changed all through Fleet and Asset Management.
- Information on the modification that has been
complied with is retained in the serial identification history in Fleet and
Asset Management.
This modification can be used as a reference for the reason a part identity
change was performed on the serial.
- If a modification leading to a part identity
change is embodied, the part number of the serial will also be changed
in Part Serial Catalog and history will be generated.
- If the serial is in Inventory (i.e., the current
position set to In Inventory) when being renamed through the embodiment
of a modification, the correct quantity on
hand will be created for the renamed individual.
- If the part number and/or serial number of the
serial is changed through the embodiment of a modification, on a serial that exists in the
Prepare Work
Order/Returns tab or the
Report In Work Order/Returns
tab, the part number and/or serial number of this serial will be updated
as well.
- If the serial's configuration becomes invalid as a
result of the rename, the operational status of the renamed serial is
automatically set to Out Of Operation.
- If the structure template information for the old
template structure is not valid for the new template structure, the
operational condition of the renamed serial is set to Non Operational.

Report in Work Order
Procedure
Using the
Report in Work Order
window.
- Open the
Report in Work Order
window, and search for the work order to be concluded.
- Click in the Status field, right-click, point
to Work Order Status, and then click Finished. The
status for the work order is changed to Finished.
Note: If the work order is created for a modification event leading to
a part identity change on a serial, the following information can be changed in
the Maintenance Order/Maint. Order Str./Supply Event Info/Modification
sub tab prior to completion of the event or when concluding the
work order.
- If the maintenance program is to be changed on the
serial being renamed, enter the new maintenance program in the Maint Program ID
field. Use the List of Values to select a valid value.
- If the maintenance program was changed, you can
enter the new revision of the maintenance program in the Maint Program Revision
field. Use the List of Values to select a valid value.
- If the maintenance group is to be changed on the
serial being renamed, enter the new maintenance group in the Maint Group
field. Use the List of Values to select a valid value. Note: When the
maintenance group is changed, the operational parameters are changed
according to the new maintenance group.
- By default, the Disconnect Serial from Maint
Program check box is selected when no valid maintenance program exists
for the new part number and revision. This check box cannot be updated.
- Select the Update Operational Log History
check box if you want to update operational log history records for the
serial with the new part number and revision.
- Select the Update Replacement History check
box if you want to update replacement history records for the serial with
the new part number and revision.
- Select the Update Other History check box
if you want to update other history records for the serial with the new part
number and revision.
- If the manufacturer of the serial is to be
changed, enter the new manufacturer's number in the Manufacturer Number
field. Use the List of Values to select a valid value.
- If a new manufacturer is entered or if the
manufacturer part number for the existing manufacturer is changed, enter the
new manufacturer part number in the Manu Part Number field. Use the
List of Values to select a valid value.
- Save your changes (F12).
