Unlock Serial
Explanation
This activity is used to unlock a top serial and its belonging structure. When a
serial belonging to a structure is locked it is not possible to carry out any
operations on the serial, except for the completion of running tasks.
Information on the serial can be viewed even if the serial is locked.
Note: When a serial is locked, the Locked check box will be selected for the given
serial in the Serial Structure Information/General tab and the
Locked for Update check box will be selected in the Serials window.
Prerequisites
- A serial structure that is locked needs to exist.
System Effects
- The serial and its belonging structure is
unlocked.
- It is possible to carry out operations on the
serials in the structure.
- An active maintenance program is connected
to the serial.
- All due calculations for the serial will be run to calculate due dates
and values.

Procedure
Option 01:
- Open the
Serial Structure Information window.
- In the Part Number field, query (F3) for your serial that is locked.
- Click the General tab.
- Right-click on the tab, point to Status and
click Unlock. The
Unlock Serial dialog
box will open.
- In the table of this dialog box, all serials in the
structure that have obsolete maintenance programs connected will be
displayed, along with serials that do not have maintenance programs defined
when the serial was locked.
- Click Set Program to automatically connect
the new valid active maintenance program revision to all serials in the
structure with obsolete maintenance programs connected. You can also click List
by placing the cursor on the Maint. Program ID field to select a
suitable active maintenance program ID. Note: In the list all active
maintenance programs that the serial is connected to will be displayed.
- For locked serials that do not have maintenance
programs registered, in the Maint Program ID field click List to
select a valid active maintenance program.
- When valid maintenance programs are defined for all
serials displayed in the table of this dialog box it will be possible to
close the dialog box.
- Click OK to close the dialog box and unlock
the serial and its structure. The serials in the structure will also be
updated with the selected active maintenance program.
Option 02:
- Open the
Serials window and
query (F3) for the serial that is locked.
- Select the row that holds the part number of the
locked serial right-click, point to Status and click Unlock.
This will open the
Unlock Serial dialog box.
- Continue with steps 5 - 9 detailed in option 01 of
this procedure.
Option 03:
- Open the
Define Maintenance Program
window and query (F3) for your maintenance program. You can also create a
maintenance program (F5) and connect parts, part revisions and Maintenance Group to this maintenance program in the
Preliminary status.
- Click the
Affected Serials tab.
- Select the row that holds the part number of the
locked serial, right-click, point to Status and click Unlock.
This will open the
Unlock Serial dialog box.
- Continue with steps 5 - 9 detailed in option 01 of
this procedure.
