Set Serial's Life Limit

Explanation

This activity is used to define whether a serial, which is not connected to a template, is life limited or not. To set the life limit of a serial you need to use the same rules as used when setting the life limit in a template structure.

If a serial is life limited, has no template information, and is a used serial (but a new serial within the system), the Life Limited field in the Component Life/General tab must be updated before the operational log history can be updated in the Component Life window.

Prerequisites

• The life limit setting must be defined for the serial part. For more information, refer to the activity Supply Serial Part Information.
• For a serial to be defined as life limited, it must have the Planned For Operation operational status.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the life limit of the serial is updated.

Procedure

1. Open the Component Life window and query (F3) for your serial.
2. Click the General tab.
3. Right-click and click Set Life Limited. The Set Life Limited dialog box opens.
4. In the New Life Limited field, specify whether the serial is life limited or not.
5. Click OK.
