This activity is used to compare a serial structure with the template structure on which it is based and identify any differences or similarities between the two structures. This feature is useful when you want to define or maintain a template structure and verify, for instance, the use of alternate parts in the serial structure. Note: This activity can be performed on all template structures, irrespective of the structure status. The following table shows the available options to choose from when comparing the structures:
Options | Description |
All | When this option is selected the complete multilevel structure for the selected part revision (template structure) and serial (serial structure) will be displayed. |
Equal | When you select this option the structure similarities between the selected part revision and serial will be displayed. |
Difference | When this option is selected, the structure differences between the selected part revision and serial will be displayed. |
This structure comparison includes all levels of serialized parts and the first level of non-serialized parts.
A template structure must exist, along with a serial structure that is in conformance with this template structure. For more information refer the online help files: Serial Structure Templates in IFS/VIM and Serial Structures in IFS/VIM.
Depending on the option you select, the system will compare the given structures, and display the differences or similarities between these structures.
