Define Control Plan Lines
Explanation
Each Control Plan Manufacturing, Control Plan Purchasing, or Control Plan
Inventory consists of two levels: a header and one or more lines. This activity
is used to create
new control plan lines.
For each control plan line, the sample size has to be
calculated when an analysis is created. To calculate the sample size, an inspection
code has to be defined.
The inspection type specifies whether the sample
size is based on a fixed quantity or a sample percentage of the order size .It is not possible to use
Percentage as the inspection
type if the part is used as a production schedule part.
For acceptance sampling, a system-generated inspection
code is used, which has a sample percentage of 100%. The actual sample size will
be calculated by the system when analysis is created. A control plan line using
the inspection code for acceptance sampling will be automatically connected to
an acceptance sampling trigger.
Prerequisites
- The Control Plan header and at least one Norm type must have been created.
- At least one inspection code must have been defined.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, one or more control plan lines are created. The
inspection code selected in the control plan line, will control the sample size
for each data point when the analyses are created.

Procedure
Control Plan - Manufacturing
- Create a new record.
- Note that the Data Point and Status fields are system-generated.
- Enter the Routing Operation No, or use the List of Values to choose from
the available routing operations.
This is a required field. For configured parts you may use operation numbers that do not exist in the List of Values.
This may be necessary if you use configuration rules to set operation number or insert operation.
- Work Center is fetched from the routing operation. For configured parts, you may use another work center. This may be necessary if you use configuration rules to set work center or insert operation.
- Enter a value for the Test Operation No. If you leave the field blank, the value is system-generated but it can be changed later. The first line created is number 10, the second is number 20, the
third is number 30, and so on.
- Enter the Test Operation Description. This is a required field.
- To make it mandatory to attach a media item to the
result, select Media Required check box.
- Enter information in the Evaluation Measurement Technique field, if
appropriate.
- Enter information in the Engineering Drawing Reference field, if
appropriate.
- Enter the Norm Type, or use the List of Values to choose from the
available norm types. This is a required field.
- Enter information in the Machine/Process/Tool, Process Characteristic,
Product Characteristic, and Special Characteristic Classification fields, if
appropriate.
- Select Attributes, Variables or
Categorical in the Data Type list.
- If the data type is set to Categorical, enter a
Category ID or use the List of Values to choose from available category IDs.
- If the data type is set to Variable, enter information about the tolerance limits in the Outer Min, Inner Min,
Nominal Value, Inner Max, and Outer Max fields. The Nominal Value is required,
together with either the combination Inner Min/Inner Max or Outer
Min/Outer Max.
- Enter an Inspection Code or select one from the List of Values.
- Enter information in the Sample Frequency, and Control Method
fields.
- Enter information in the Reaction Plan and Notes fields.
- Save when complete.
Note: If the control plan contains one or more
control plan lines defined as Categorical, a Category Entry Type value must have
been selected in the header section to be able to activate the control plan.
