Apply Control Plan Template to Control Plan

Explanation

Each Control Plan Manufacturing, Control Plan Purchasing or Control Plan Inventory consists of two levels: a header and one or more lines. This activity is used to create new control plan lines using a Control Plan Template. The template can be used only to copy from, or with a reference that ensures the control plan contains exactly the same lines as the template that it refers to.

Prerequisites

• A control plan template in state Active with the correct type (Manufacturing, Purchasing or Inventory) must exist.
• A control plan header in state Created must exist.
• For control plan - manufacturing, a routing alternate must exist for the part
• For a manufactured part, the operation numbers and work centers referred on the template lines must also exist on the routing alternate.

Note: If a manufactured part is configurable, operation numbers and work centers referred on the template lines may not exist on the routing alternate, but you should check that they refer to combinations of operation number and work center number that may be the result of the configuration rules.

System Effects

As a result of this activity:

• Control plan lines are copied from the template to the control plan.
• If you selected the reference option, a reference to the template and its revision will be saved on the control plan header.
• If any problems occurred, a control plan log will be created containing the error and warning messages.

Procedure

1. Open the Control Plan - Manufacturing, Control Plan - Purchasing or Control Plan - Inventory window.
2. Select a control plan.
3. Right-click anywhere in the header and then click Apply Control Plan Template.
4. Use the List of Values to select from available control plan templates.
5. Select Copy if you only want to copy the lines from the template to the control plan.
6. Select Refer if you want to keep a reference between the control plan and the template.
7. Click OK.
8. If there is any problem in applying the template, you will be asked to review the control plan log.
