Create Item Operations
Explanation
Use this activity to create the operations of a project deliverable item. The
Use Project Operations check box on a project deliverable item controls
the following:
- Enables the right-mouse option Project Operations on project
deliverable item.
- Controls how operations are copied to a shop order:
- Select the Use Project Operations check box, if operations
defined on the project deliverable item should be
copied, once a shop order is created.
- Clear the Use Project Operations check box, if operations
defined in standard
manufacturing should be copied, once a shop order is created.
Prerequisites
- A project deliverable item should exist, as described here:
Create Basic Structure.
- An inventory part of any manufactured type must have been defined on
project deliverable item, as described here:
Create Detailed Structure.
- The value for Supply Option, on the material in Material
Requirements
tab, should be set to Shop Order. Reviewed supply option, as described
here: Review Supply Option.
System Effects
- Operations defined on a project deliverable item will be copied, during the
later processes, when the shop order is created.

Procedure
- Open the Project Deliverables Navigator window and populate it with
values.
- Open the General tab or the Components tab.
- Select the Use Project Operations check box.
- Right-click and select the Project Operations option.
- Create a new record in the Project Operations window.
- Enter mandatory values for Operation No,
Operation Description,
and
Work Center No.
- At least one of the following fields should have a value
greater than zero (0): Labor Factor, Machine Factor, Labor Setup
- Open the General tab or Components tab.
- Select the Use Project Operations check box.
- Right-click and then click Project Operations.
- Create a new record in Project Operations window.
- Enter mandatory values for Operation No, Operation Description,
Work Center No.
- Also make sure that at least one of the following fields have a value
greater than 0: Labor Factor, Machine Factor, Labor Setup
- Open the General tab or Components tab.
- Select the check box
Use Project Operations.
(It is only
possible to control this check box when the value for Supply Option,
on the material in Material Requirements tab, is set to Shop Order.)
- Save the changes.
- Right-click and then click Project Operations.
- Create a new record in Project Operations window.
- Enter mandatory values for Operation No, Operation Description,
Work Center No.
- Also make sure that at least one of the following fields have a value
greater than 0: Labor Factor, Machine Factor, Labor Setup
or Machine Setup.
- Save the changes.
