Set Maintenance Order to Under Preparation
Explanation
This activity is used to set a maintenance order to the Under Preparation
status. This is done once the planner has assigned required events to the
maintenance order.
When a maintenance order is set to the Under Preparation status, you
have the option of releasing all resource and material demands included on the
order. When this is done, material can be reserved or pegged to the maintenance
order at an early stage. For the resource demands, corresponding resource
activities will be generated. For more information on releasing maintenance
order demands, refer the Release
Demands activity.
When a maintenance order is in the Under
Preparations status, it is possible to:
- Specify task cards for events without connected task cards
- Add additional task cards or cancel task cards that are no longer valid
- Add additional events to the maintenance order
- Change the grouping ID for a maintenance order with the Execution
Logic Structure distribution type
- Connect documents to the task cards
- Release resource and material demands on the maintenance order, if the
demands have not already been released
Prerequisites
- A maintenance order in the Initial Scope
Definition status must exist.
- At least one event must be connected to the maintenance order. If
predefined task cards exist for the event, the connected resources and
material must be valid at the maintenance order site. For resources, the
site connection is set in the Resource
Detail/Connections/Site tab.
System Effects
- If task cards have been connected to event codes, these task cards will be
added to the corresponding events that have the Work Order
and Execution Logic Structure distribution types. The event is set to
the Under Preparation status.
- If
predefined task cards do not exist for an assigned event, the event will be set to
the Incomplete status.
- For a maintenance order with the
Execution Logic Structure distribution type, an execution logic
structure (ELS) will be
created automatically based on the ELS template defined for the given
grouping ID. All task cards and subtasks connected to the events with in the
Under Preparation status will be sorted. The following effects will occur for the generated ELS:
- If multiple resources are used on the task card or subtask, and these
resources are included in the selected ELS template, the task card or subtask will be coped to each ELO node corresponding
to the resources on the task card or subtask.
- If multiple zones are used on the task card or subtask, and these zones
are included in the selected ELS template, the task card or subtask will be
copied to each ELO node corresponding to the zones on the task card or
subtask.
- The planned start date for all the execution logic orders (ELOs) will be set to the date given in the
Req Start field on the maintenance order. This is valid for both grouped and ungrouped
task cards.
- The dependencies predefined in the ELS template
will be drawn between the relevant ELOs.
- The grouping and ELO nodes in the ELS will be sorted in the
same order as set up on the ELS template. This sequence is reflected in the ELS navigator and the Gantt chart available in the
Exec. Logic tab. Ungrouped ELO nodes will always be placed at the bottom of the ELS navigator and the
Gantt chart.
- The duration of the ELO is set to the hour
consumption of the task card with the highest consumption within the ELO.
- The planned finish date for the ELO will be
calculated by adding the duration of the ELO to the planned start date.
If maintenance order demands have been released:
- Soft-pegged demands are created for the material on the maintenance
order.
- Resource activities will be generated for the resources on the
maintenance order. Resource activities can be viewed in the
Resource Activity window. The resource origin
for generated resource activities will be set to Maint Order Task Card.
- The Demands Released check box will be selected on the
maintenance order and the Release Demands menu option will be
disabled.
- The workshop on the maintenance order can only be changed to a workshop
within the same site.
- Any further changes to resources and material while the maintenance
order is in the Under Preparation status will automatically release
new/changed demands.

maintenance order in
the relevant fields.
- Right-click, point to Status, and then
click Under Preparation. The Set Maintenance
Order to Under Preparation dialog box opens.
