This feature can be used locate any differences that exist between your physical structure and its corresponding serial structure.
If the physical structure is changed, and these changes are reported through a work order (from IFS/Work Order Management) or shop order (from IFS/Shop Order), structure mismatch log entries will be generated, only if these changes cannot be validated with the associated serial structure which is defined in Fleet and Asset Management.
You need to examine these mismatch log entries and determine how the structure changes are to be resolved.
If the serial structure is incorrect, you need to make the required changes to the structure. As a result, you can resolve the related structure mismatch log entry, or the system will automatically remove this record. Observe the following example:
During the disassembly of your structure, you receive a serial which is different to the expected one (i.e., the serial defined in the serial structure). Due to this, the system generates a structure mismatch log entry. Note: The received serial did not exist—in other words, was not defined—in Fleet and Asset Management before it was received. Once you remove the expected serial from the serial structure, the corresponding mismatch log entry is automatically resolved.
If the structure changes to the physical structure (reported through the work order or shop order) are incorrect, and the serial structure is correct, you need to cancel the related structure mismatch log records.
An example for resolving structure mismatches when complex assembly MRO is used - if a different serial was received during disassembly or disposition, the expected serial should be removed from the serial structure, and the mismatch log entry resolved. Further, if the serial does not exist, it will be created automatically in Fleet & Asset Management.
If a different serial is found when performing serial structure changes from a work order, the expected serial should be removed from the serial structure, and the mismatch log entry resolved. If the different serial does not exist in Fleet & Asset Management, it must be created manually.
When structure mismatch records are either canceled or resolved, these records will be retained in the system for historical purposes. Historical mismatch log entries can be viewed in Serial Structure Mismatch History.
