Enter Measurement
Explanation
This activity is used to enter the value that is obtained during the
measurement of the object. A measurement is carried out on a parameter that has
previously been entered for the object. You can also enter whether the
measurement has been carried out on a special test point defined for the object.
Prerequisites
Before the measurement is entered, the following must have been completed:
- A test point and a parameter must have been connected to the object in the
Serial Object or
Functional Object
window
in IFS/Equipment.
System Effects
- The object parameter is updated with the last measured value.
- If the result of the measurement falls outside of the limits, it will also
be displayed under the PM action to which the parameter is connected.
- If two or more accumulated measurements are registered and a PM action
is registered, it generates a condition based forecast PM plan.
- If the measured value fails validation, the measurement is still saved, but
with the Preliminary Reading measurement type. This reading will not be
used to manage PM plans. It should be corrected before it can be used.

Procedure
Use the following procedure to enter the measurement for the object:
-
Go to
Measurements for Object
window and search for the object.
-
In the New Reading Value field, enter the measured value of the
parameter.
-
Verify that the Registration Date is correct. Or else change it to an earlier
date/time to register earlier measurements.
-
Enter relevant notes in the Measurement Notes field (optional).
-
Save the information.
-
Verify that the reading has been recorded correctly in the Recorded Value field
of the table below.
-
If the measurement
type is Preliminary Reading, select the record, right-click and click
Manage Preliminary Reading. If you are working in the
Measurements for Object window, you need to
select the record in the lower table.
-
Use the Manage Preliminary Reading assistant to correct the reading.
Using the assistant, the reading should be set as either Incorrect,
Meter
roll-over, or Meter Change.
-
The reading will not be usable unless it has the Recorded Reading
measurement type. If it
remains as Preliminary Reading, then any later readings will also be set
to Preliminary Reading, awaiting correction of the first
Preliminary Reading record.
Note: Upon registering accumulated measurements, the condition based
forecast PM plan will be regenerated accordingly. The user can choose to run the
regeneration as a background job by setting the system parameter
PM_CON_PLAN_SYNC to BATCH. The Plan Out of Sync flag in the PM
Action/Condition tab will indicate if the condition based forecast PM plan is in
conflict with the latest measurement entered for the object. When
the condition based forecast PM plan is in conflict, it will not be allowed to
generate Work Orders from the affected PM Action. If this parameter is set to
ONLINE, the regenerate plan process will run immediately, and this might
take a few minutes.
