Enter Product Family Master Data
Explanation
This activity is used to enter product family master data for MS Level 0 and
Sales and Operations Planning parts. Selecting an MS Set is mandatory in order
to use Sales and Operations Planning and is also used for monetary
equivalent calculations in MS Level 0.
Prerequisites
The part must be defined in Inventory Part with
planning method set as O.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, the part can be used in master scheduling.

Procedure
- Open the Product Family Master window.
- Create a new record.
- Query for the MS part that you want to enter master data for.
- Under Time Fences, enter a value in the
Demand field.
- Under Time Fences, enter a value in the
Planning field.
- Select the check box Share Resource Routing between Sales&OP and MS Level 0 if you want S&OP and MS level 0 to share the same resource routing for resource requirements planning.
- Under Historical Periods Versions to Keep, enter a value for the number of period versions to store. Default is 15. This value is only used in S&OP.
- Under Historical Periods to Show, enter a value for the number of periods to show historical information for. Default is 3. This value is only used in S&OP.
- Under Forward Planning Horizon, enter the number of periods to plan for. Default is 15. This value is only used in S&OP.
- Under Target Days On Hand, enter the desired size of the finished goods inventory in days. This value is only used in S&OP for make to stock.
- Under Target Backlog in Days, enter the desired size of the backlog in days. This value is only used in S&OP for make to order.
- In the MS Set field, enter the master schedule set you want to use in S&OP and monetary equivalent calculations. Use the List of Values to select from available sets.
- Repeat step 12 for each MS Set want to add.
- Save the record.
