Explanation

This activity is used to calculate the average cost of a product family, using either a specific cost set or inventory value.

System Effects

An average cost based on inventory value or a selected cost set will be calculated. If selected, the average cost field will be updated.

Procedure

  1. Select the MS Set that you want to calculate average cost for.
  2. Right click and then click Calculate Average Cost.
  3. In the Cost Type field, select Use Inventory or Use specified Cost Set.
  4. If applicable, in the Cost Set field, specify the cost set to be used. Use the List of Values to select from available cost sets.
  5. To update average cost, select the Update Average Cost check box.
  6. Press OK.
