Set Template Structure Obsolete

Explanation

This activity is used to set a template structure obsolete. You can choose to set only the topmost template obsolete or to set all levels of the template structure obsolete. Once a template structure is set to the Obsolete status, it will not be possible to modify this structure. New serial structures cannot be built using the obsolete template structure. Please note however that existing serial structures can still be used.

If a template structure is used in several other template structures, e.g., an engine which is used in different types of aircrafts, the template structure (engine) cannot be set obsolete unless all the places it is used is also set obsolete. By default, only the selected template structure will be set obsolete. However, you can choose to set all connected template structures obsolete provided that the connected template structures are not used in any other template structure. Note: If a connected template structure is used in another template structure it will not be possible to set this connected template structure to the Obsolete status.

Prerequisites

A template structure must exist. The template structure must be in the Active status.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the template structure is set to the Obsolete status.

Procedure

  1. Open the Serial Structure Template window and query (F3) for the template structure you want.
  2. Verify that the structure is currently in the Active status. To do this, click the General tab and observe the value displayed in the Structure Status field.
  3. Right-click, point to Status and then click Set Obsolete. The Set Structure Obsolete dialog box opens.
  4. If you want to set all levels of the template structure obsolete, select the Set All Levels, including template parts check box. Note: This check box should not be selected if only the topmost level of the template structure is to be set obsolete.
  5. Click OK.
