Backward Schedule Block Operations in Parallel

Explanation

Use this activity to backward schedule shop order operations connected to an operation block parallel to each others from a given finish date/time.

Procedure

From Operation Block and Operation Blocks windows:

  1. Search for the operation block you wish to schedule.
  2. Right-click and click Schedule Operation Block. The Schedule Operation Block dialog box appears.
  3. Select the Backward Scheduling option.
  4. Optionally, use the List of Values in the Succeeding Block field to select which operation block this block should precede. The Finish Date will be set the same as the succeeding block's start date/time, and the Preferred Resource will be set the same as the preferred resource of the selected succeeding block.
  5. Verify or enter the date/time on which you want the operations in the operation block to finish in the Finish Date field.
  6. Verify or enter the resource on which you want the operations to be scheduled in the Preferred Resource field. Use the List of Values to select from available work center resources.
  7. Select the Schedule in Parallel option.
  8. If you want to avoid slack between operations succeeding the block operation on the same shop order when rescheduled to an earlier date/time, select the Compress Operations check box.
  9. Click OK.

From the Connect Operation(s) to Operation Block dialog box:

  1. Select the Schedule Operation Block check box and click OK, the Schedule Operation Block dialog box appears.
  2. Select the Backward Scheduling option.
  3. Optionally, use the List of Values in the Succeeding Block field to select which operation block this block should precede. The Finish Date will be set the same as the succeeding block's start date/time, and the Preferred Resource will be set the same as the preferred resource of the selected succeeding block.
  4. Verify or enter the date/time on which you want the operations in the operation block to finish in the Finish Date field.
  5. Verify or enter the resource on which you want the operations to be scheduled in the Preferred Resource field. Use the List of Values to select from available work center resources.
  6. Select the Schedule in Parallel option.
  7. If you want to avoid slack between operations succeeding the block operation on the same shop order when rescheduled to an earlier date/time, select the Compress Operations check box.
  8. Click OK.

From Shop Order Operations, Shop Order/Operations and Shop Floor Workbench windows:

  1. Search for the shop order operation connected to operation block you wish to schedule.
  2. Right-click, point to Operation Block and then click Schedule. The Schedule Operation Block dialog box appears.
  3. Select the Backward Scheduling option.
  4. Optionally, use the List of Values in the Succeeding Block field to select which operation block this block should precede. The Finish Date will be set the same as the succeeding block's start date/time, and the Preferred Resource will be set the same as the preferred resource of the selected succeeding block.
  5. Verify or enter the date/time on which you want the operations in the operation block to finish in the Finish Date field.
  6. Verify or enter the resource on which you want the operations to be scheduled in the Preferred Resource field. Use the List of Values to select from available work center resources.
  7. Select the Schedule in Parallel option.

  9. Click OK.

From a visualizer chart:

  1. Open a visualizer enabled window and query for the site needed.
  2. If the Data View is displayed, click Visualization View on the title bar.
  3. Right-click and click Select Visualization. The Select Visualization dialog box is opened.
  4. Double-click Machine Operation Load in Standard Hours, Labor Operation Load in Standard Hours, Shop Order Machine Load or Shop Order Labor Load.
  5. Select the bar/segment representing the shop order operation(s) connected to operation block you want to schedule, right-click, point to Operation Block and then click Schedule. The Schedule Operation Block dialog box appears.
  6. Select the Backward Scheduling option.
  7. Optionally, use the List of Values in the Succeeding Block field to select which operation block this block should precede. The Finish Date will be set the same as the succeeding block's start date/time, and the Preferred Resource will be set the same as the preferred resource of the selected succeeding block.
  8. Verify or enter the date/time on which you want the operations in the operation block to finish in the Finish Date field.
  9. Verify or enter the resource on which you want the operations to be scheduled in the Preferred Resource field. Use the List of Values to select from available work center resources.
  10. Select the Schedule in Parallel option.
  11. If you want to avoid slack between operations succeeding the block operation on the same shop order when rescheduled to an earlier date/time, select the Compress Operations check box..
  12. Click OK
