PM Program

A PM program consists of a collection of work task templates that together make up the list of activities for how a certain type of equipment is maintained. The purpose of a PM program is to make it possible to reuse or recycle the preventive maintenance information for a particular object when creating new PM actions. This prevents planning the information over and over again for each PM action, thus saving time in planning and preparation. Once a PM program is defined, it can be added to similar equipment objects to generate PM actions.

A PM program should be connected to one or more Item Classes. This helps to group similar objects on which the similar set of work task templates could be used.

The generated PM actions will receive the relevant information such as work order generation conditions, material requirements, work list requirements, and tool and facility requirements from the work task templates that are connected to the PM program. Note: You can connect work task templates that belong to the same item class that the PM program belongs to. There can be multiple sites connected a single PM Program.

New PM programs can be created by copying existing PM programs. Note: You can only use this feature to create new PM programs, and not to create new PM program revisions. PM program revisions are created using the Create New Revision for PM Program dialog box.

Revisions and Status of PM Program

Revision control gives the possibility and control on deciding having revisions of PM program or do all updates on PM program itself without having revisions. This can be performed in two ways; either on the Site window or on the PM Program window. If you enabled it on site, when new PM program is created using that site will automatically get the Revision Control enabled and vise versa.

A PM program can have many revisions. The status of a PM program revision can be any one of the following:

• Preliminary - A new PM program or a new PM program revision always receives the Preliminary status. A preliminary PM program revision is not considered to be active, i.e., it cannot be applied on objects in order to generate PM actions. Work Task templates can only be connected to a PM program in the Preliminary status. A preliminary PM program revision can be updated and deleted. You can have more than one preliminary PM program revision at any given time.
• Active - An active PM program revision can be applied on objects in order to generate PM actions. If you want to connect or delete work task templates, you can only do so by creating a new revision for a revision control enabled PM program. A PM program can only contain one active revision at any given time. Therefore, once the status of the new revision is set to Active, the status of the previously active PM program revision will be set to Obsolete by the system.
• Obsolete - A PM program revision is set to Obsolete when it is no longer in use, i.e., when the status of a preliminary PM program revision has been changed to Active, or due to any other reasons. However, it is not allowed to obsolete PM Programs if there are objects already connected to the active revision.

The status of the PM program revision is changed by using the right mouse button options. A new PM program revision can be created from active or obsolete PM Programs where there are no existing revisions in preliminary status.
