Use this activity to connect a function number to a deferral item code. When a function number is connected to an item code, the selected item code will only be applicable for a fault where this function is listed in the function breakdown. Refer the example below,
We have an aircraft with Product = AIRCRAFT, Model =
AFA, Top Part No = AC1, and Top Part Rev = R01. We also have an engine with Product = ENGINE, Model = CF6, Top Part No = 000077955,
and Top Part
Rev = R01. We have an aircraft with Part No = AC1 and Serial No = 123.
In this serial, the engine with Part No = 000077955 and Serial
No = 456 is installed.
When reporting a fault on the engine, only deferral list codes that are assigned
to top part no 000077955, rev R01 will be valid. If the fault is
reported with a function, it will be a function defined for the product AIRCRAFT
as this is the top product for the engine structure (and not a function for the
engine, even if functions are defined for product model ENGINE, CF6).
Only deferral item codes that are assigned to a function in the aircraft will
be available. This means that in this case, the item code must be associated
with the engine with part no 000077955, rev R01 in the
Revisions
per Item tab. In the
Functions per Item tab, the item code must be
associated with Product = AIRCRAFT and Model = AFA.
The item code can only be used when reporting a fault in a serial that is installed in the product model entered in the Deferral Definitions/Functions Per Item tab.
