Define Competency Levels
Explanation
This activity is used to manually define competency levels for the
competency.
Each level represents a different level of proficiency in a certain competency
(e.g., Competent, Specialist, Expert).
Note: If you manually enter a new level for the competency that is linked
to a level template, it will break the link and changes made
to the template will no longer be automatically applied to the competency.
Prerequisites
In order to perform this activity, competencies have to be registered in the
system.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, competencies will have their proficiency levels
defined.

Procedure
- Open the Competencies window.
- In the area on the left of the window, select the certificate under which
you want to register new proficiency levels. You might need to expand the
certificate tree in order to find the relevant competency.
- On the Competency/competency Levels tab, place your cursor in
the Level Name field and add a new record.
- In the Level Name field, enter the name for the level of
proficiency that a competency holder can have.
- In the Level Points field, enter
the number of points assigned to a level. Points can be used to determine
the value of a skill based on criteria such as time needed to learn or
rarity. This way a level of skill particularly valuable to a company can
be given much more value than a lower level. This information is useful, e.g., to estimate a combined "value" of an employee.
- Save your changes.
