Scrap FA Object
Explanation
This activity is used to scrap a fixed asset. The
scrapping of fixed assets is normally done using the
Object or Objects
window, but if you want to scrap a fixed asset when carrying out the fixed
assets physical counting process, it is also possible to do it using the
Register Object Physical Count
Result window.
Prerequisites
Before you scrap an object, the following must have been completed:
- The status of the object(s) to be scrapped must be
Active.
- The Scrap Object operation can be performed if the
compensation is zero (0).
- A voucher type for which the function
group is A and the ledger selection is GL, Affect IL must
exist and it must not be connected to a book.
- If you want to use the Register Object Physical Count
Result window to perform this activity, the count status
of the object to be scrapped must be Missing.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, the object status is altered
to Scrapped and the Disposal Date field in the Object
window will be changed by the scrap date .
The disposal date (scrap date) of the object cannot be before the latest
acquisition event date of the object. A voucher is created with postings in connection with scrapping.

Procedure
Use the following procedure to scrap a fixed asset:
- Open the Object or
Objects window and query for the object that you want to scrap.
- Right-click and click Scrap Object
to open the
Scrap Object window. (Note: In the
Objects window, you are required to select the objects in
order to right-click and click Scrap Object.)
- Change the scrap date, event date, voucher date,
voucher type or the user group if necessary. (Note: The scrap date
must not be before the latest acquisition date shown in the window).
- Use the List of Values to enter a
value in the Disposal Reason field.
- Click Save. An information message will be raised asking you whether a
check should be performed on the selected object(s) with respect to
depreciation.
- Click Yes if you require a check to be done. Note: If all the
depreciations have been performed based on the disposal principle of the
depreciation method then it will continue to scrap. If not another
information message will be raised asking to interrupt the process in order
to perform the missing depreciations . Click Yes to continue.
- Click No to scrap the object without checking for the missing
depreciations.
Or
To scrap a fixed asset of which the count
status is Missing after a physical count:
- Open the Register Object Physical
Count Result window and query for the physical count which includes the
object that you want to scrap.
- Select the object that you want to
scrap, right-click and click Scrap Object to open the
Scrap Object
window.
- Follow steps 3-7 of the
former procedure.
