Raise Test Requirement
Explanation
This activity is used to create a testing task for the maintenance engineers
to validate and ensure that an asset meets its certification requirements. This
activity focuses on the checks which should be carried out following maintenance
activities on an aircraft in order to provide reassurance of handling
characteristics, performance or to establish the correct functioning of the
systems which can be fully established during ground testing. Following are
examples of the tests which can form part of these functions:
- Fuel transfer and consumption checks
- Ground runs to establish operating temperatures
- Flight control movement assurance checks
In many instances these checks are included in the maintenance manual for the
asset. However, as maintenance personnel are required to certify that all
aspects of maintenance meet with the required standards for release to service,
they often perform additional checks to validate and confirm the correct
functioning of systems and functions. When major modifications or even component
changes have occurred as part of the maintenance visit, the maintenance manual
or other reference material does not often provide the information required by
engineers to satisfy the specific needs for a full release to service.
There are two options which can be used to create these additional testing
requirements for an asset:
- Convenience task - This will be used where the contents and
requirements of the test is established and well known.
- Manual maintenance event - This can be used when the task that is
to be carried out by the test is not included in the task library and where
maintenance engineers wish to expand and highlight the specific task which
needs to be performed as part of the test function.
Prerequisites
- The serial must exist in Fleet and Asset Management.
- If a convenience task is required for the test, it must have been
defined for the serial.
System Effects
- When the requirements of the test are not known, a manual maintenance
event can be created and task cards, resources, material, and sign off
requirements can be planned for the event. The manual event can be assigned
to a maintenance order for further processing.
- When the requirements of the test are not known, the required
convenience task is can be assigned to a maintenance order for further
processing.
As a result of this activity, a work order with basic information for the
service request is created. You can enter additional information for the work
order.

Manual Maintenance Event
Procedure
Use the following procedure to assign a convenience task or manual event to the maintenance order:
- Open the Maintenance Order window and query (F3) for the
necessary maintenance order.
- Click the Assign Events tab. To assign a manual event click the
Pending Events sub tab or click the Convenience Tasks
sub tab to assign a convenience task.
- Locate the required event, and select the Include Mx Event check box
for the record.
- Save the information (F12) to add the event to the maintenance
order.
Use the following procedure to create a manual maintenance event:
- Open the Manual Maintenance Event window and create a new record (F5).
- In the Part Number and Serial Number fields, enter
information on the serial for which the manual event is to be created.
- In the Mx Event Code and Mx Event Description fields,
enter information on the manual event.
- Enter additional information on the event, if needed.
- Save the record.
- In the Task Cards tab, connect predefined task cards or
define a manual task card. The Source determines the type of task card you
will set up for the event.
- In the Resources tab, enter required resource
requirements. Resources will be retrieved automatically for predefined task
cards.
- In the Material Usage tab, enter required material
requirements. Material will be retrieved automatically for predefined task
cards.
- In the Sign Off Req. tab, enter sign off requirements for
the task cards. Sign off requirements will be retrieved automatically for
predefined task cards.
- Once the manual event is planned, it can be connected to a maintenance
order. In the Event Details tab, use the List of Values to
select a valid maintenance order.
