Compare Estimates

Explanation

Use this activity to view the similarities or differences between two top items for the same or different; estimate id, revision and version with regards to work scope, cost, markup and responsible person. It is possible to view the entire structure or just the item that matches the included filter parameters and the selected view option. Levels matching are displayed within a split window for easy comparison.

The comparison for work scope is made concerning items and/or operations for a level. The comparison for cost and markup is done concerning the result of the estimate cost calculation. Differences and equals between the cost element figures can be examined.

Note: It is possible to compare one item of the estimate tree structure at a time and it is not possible to add, update, or delete information in this window.

Prerequisites

This activity requires that at least one estimate revision is created with two versions, both versions shall be in the Calculated status or higher.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the system enables to view similarities and differences between two items for the same or different; estimate id, revision and version with regards to work scope, cost, markup and responsible person.

Procedure

  1. Search for the Estimate ID and revision which contains the item you would like to compare.
  2. Select the item record in the tree structure which shall be compared.
  3. From the item header right click and select Estimate Comparison.
  4. In the Comparatee section, select Estimate ID, Revision No, Version and Item ID.
  5. There are four filter parameters which can be filtered based on the structures based on; Work Scope, Cost, Markup and Responsible Person. Include relevant parameters for the comparison.
  6. Select All and press the Compare to see all items in both structures. It is necessary to compare the structures to see the differences.
  7. Select Difference and press the Compare to see the items that differ between the structures, i.e., depending on include parameters are items listed which is different for one structure but not in the other.
  8. Select Equal and press the Compare to see the items that are identical in both structures. To qualify as identical, there can be no differences between the structures for a parameter included.
