Create Serial Object from Customer Order
Explanation
Use this activity to create a new serial object from IFS/Customer Order.
This can only be used in IFS/Service Management.
Prerequisites
- Information on the inventory part must have been entered in IFS/Inventory.
A valid quantity of the inventory part should also
exist in IFS/Inventory.
- Information on the sales part must have been entered in IFS/Customer
Order.
- The After
Delivery Serial Tracking box in
Part window, must have been
selected for the part that the
sales part is connected to.
- Information on the customer order with the Planned status must have been
entered in IFS/Customer Order.
System Effects
- A new serial object is created. You can find the object information in
Serial Object and enter additional information on the object.
- The
identity of the serial object is automatically created by concatenating the part
number (that the sales part is connected to) and the
serial number.

Procedure
- Open
Customer Order window
and query for a
customer order with the
Planned status.
- Click the
Order Line tab and create a new record.
- In the Sales Part field, use the List of Values to select the sales part
number.
- Select the Create SM Object check box. This box is selected by default if the
Create SM Object check box in the
Sales Part/Misc Part Info tab, is
selected for the sales part.
- In the Sales Quantity field, enter the quantity.
- Save the information.
- Right-click and click Release. The status of the
customer order is changed to Released.
- Open the
Quick Order Flow Handling window, and
query for the released customer order.
- Change the status of the customer order from
Released to Delivered, by right-clicking and clicking the available right
mouse button options. They will be available in the following order: Reserve,
Create Pick List, Report Picking, Deliver.
Once the customer order is delivered, depending on the quantity
entered on the customer order
line, one or several serial objects are created and
placed in the equipment register.
