Verify Off Log Structure
Explanation
Use this activity to analyze a structure that is
currently disassembled. Ideally, this activity should be performed prior to the
initiation of the structure assembly process. The purpose of this activity is to
ensure that the Off Log structure is correct.
First and foremost, you need to identify new serials in
the Off Log, and define appropriate events for these serials and the belonging
structures. An Off Log contains details on the serials that have been
disassembled as well as details on the serials included in the structures of the
disassembled serials. Furthermore, this activity can be used to change work
scope events when an interim order structure is released, and disassembly is in
progress.
Different Part Found scenarios in an Off Log
Structure
Due to certain circumstances you may have to receive an
unexpected serial(s) to the Off Log. Unexpected in that the serial(s) received
is different to the serial(s) expected for the Off Log. This is generally referred to as a DPF
(Different Part Found) scenario. Different part found scenarios are identified
and resolved through this activity. When a DPF
occurs against a position part (or structure position) that has more than one
serial part, the system
cannot automatically identify the serial that ought to be removed from the work
scope. For that reason you need to manually map the expected and new serials
against each other by using the
Reconfigure Work Scope/Map Serial Numbers
tab. If new serials are received during disassembly, and events have been defined
for these serials, you are required to perform the serial mapping event for the
work scope.
If all expected serials have been received in the work
scope or in other words if DPFs do not exist, the received and expected serials are
mapped automatically.
If for some reason a structure mismatch occurs, for instance the details in
an Off Log differ to the details you (the Engineer) believe should be displayed
in the Off Log, serial parts that are not already disassembled in the structure
can be adjusted in Fleet and Asset Management.
Prerequisites
-
A running work scope must exist.
-
Disassembly has started.
-
Assembly has not started. (if you intend to alter the off log). Note:
Once an assembly starts the off log becomes static.
- New serials are found during disassembly for structure positions
(position parts) holding a quantity higher than 1 for serialized parts
System Effects
- The actual serial structure for the overhaul
object (i.e., work order part) can be examined.
- If new serials have been added to the Off Log during disassembly,
they should be examined for due modifications or LLP requirements. If so,
the modifications or LLP requirement should be added as new events to the
existing work scope.
- The Off Log is updated for position parts having serialized parts with
quantity higher than one, and identification of events for new serials in the
work scope can continue.
- Events for old serials that was not in the structure during disassembly
will be displayed in
Define Work Scope/Superfluous
Mx Events or
Reconfigure Work Scope/Superfluous Mx Events and these events should be removed.

Procedure
Follow this procedure to verify an Off Log Structure:
- Open the
Reconfigure Work Scope
window.
- In the WO No field, query (F3) for the work
order of your overhaul object.
- Click the
Actual Off Log tab. Details on
the serial structure of the overhaul object will be displayed. Verify the
information shown on this tab.
Follow this procedure to add new events to an existing
work scope:
- Open the
Maintenance Event Summary window.
- In the Work Order field, query (F3) for the
work order of your overhaul object.
- Click the Actual Off Log tab.
- Select the row that contains details for the new
serial, right-click, and then click Reconfigure Work Scope. The
Reconfigure Work Scope window opens, with the selected serial as
the top serial.
- Include all modifications and LLP events that you require for the new
serial and/or its components in this window and its tabs
LLPs
and
Modification.
Follow this procedure to map serials, for instance, due
to a DPF scenario:
To perform this procedure you should have received different
serials than expected for position parts (or structure positions) having
serialized parts with quantity higher than one, or receiving the same serial as
expected, but in a different place in the structure.
- Open the Reconfigure Work Scope
window.
- In the WO No field, query (F3) for the work order
of your overhaul object. This will be the work order
for which a work scope was created.
- Click the
Map Serial Numbers tab.
The table on the left displays all serials of a
structure before assembly. The table on the right displays the new serials
that have been included in the structure during its disassembly.
- To work on the same position part number in the two
tables you can query manually in both the tables.
Observe the check box Mapped is already selected if you
receive the same serial as expected.
- Select the Show Unmapped option in order to
populate both tables with the serials that are currently not yet mapped.
Select one record from each of the tables and click Map.
Note that if the Position Part of the two selected records is
different this option cannot be selected.
- Select the Transfer
option to transfer all
'Mapped', and not yet transferred, records to the 'Off Log' All transferred
records will be marked with Off Log Updated check box.
- If you want to 'reverse' the transfer action select
already transferred line and select the Undo Transfer option.
- After the undo transfer process or on a not yet
transferred record, you can select the Unmap option to clear the Mapped check box.
Note that on the 'mapping' window if you select a line on
either side, the system highlights the corresponding mapped 'partner' in the
other side.
