Enter Variable Names

Explanation

This activity is used to add or remove variables from the system. You can also view the list of variables that can be used in formulas.
All variables are user defined. Therefore, any variable that is to be used in formulas should be entered in advance. 
Note that you can add or delete variables from the system, and also modify the description of the variables. However, once the record is saved, the variable name cannot be modified.

Prerequisites

The units of measure must have been defined in IFS/Application Base Setup. 

System Effects

As a result of this activity, variables will be created and saved.

Procedure

1. Open the Formula Variables window.
2. Query for the variables you want to view or modify.
3. To add a new variable to the system, select New and create a new record.
4. In the Variable Name field, enter a unique name for the variable.
5. In the Description field, enter or edit the description for the variable. 
6. In the UoM field, enter the unit of measure to be used by the variable.
7. Save the changes.
