Register Change Reasons

Explanation

This activity is used to register alternate part change reasons. A change reason is required when the Change to Alternate Part function is used to replace a quantity of a prime part on a work order material requisition line with a valid alternate part. It is possible to set a default change reason which will be retrieved automatically when performing a change to alternate.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, a change reason is registered and can be used when changing to an alternate part on a work order material requisition line. If a default change reason is specified, this value will be retrieved automatically when the Change to Alternate Part dialog box is opened.

Procedure

  1. Open the Maintenance Basic Data window and click the Alternate Part Change Reason tab.
  2. Create a new record (F5).
  3. In the Change Reason field, enter a change reason.
  4. In the Change Reason Description field, enter a description of the change reason.
  5. Save the information (F12).
  6. Optionally, right-click and click Set Default Change Reason for a preferred change reason. Only one change reason can be set as the default value.
