Create Work Type

Explanation

This activity is used to create a work type identity. A work type is used to indicate what kind of work should be performed on a work order such as Preventive Maintenance, Lubrication, Repair, Shutdown etc. 

The work type is very central in IFS/Service Management, where on a service contract you use work types to specify what type of services the customer is entitled to.

System Effects

As a result of this activity, the work type can be defined on fault reports, service requests, and work orders. The work type can also be used as a selection term in queries, for example in Work Order Cost Analysis.

Procedure

1. Open the Work Order and PM Basic Data and click the Work Types tab.
2. Create a new record (F5).
3. In the Work Type field, enter a code for a work type.
4. In the Description field, enter a short description of the work type.
5. In the Work Type Category field, select the required category of work.
6. Save the information.
