Copy Sales Rule

Explanation

This activity is used to copy one sales rule or multiple sales rules between parts or templates for a specific configuration family.

It is possible to copy sales rules between:

• single part to single part
• single part to template
• single part to multiple parts (using '..')
• template to single part
• template to template
• template to multiple parts (using '..') 

When copying to multiple part configuration revisions, use '..' to handle multiple parts, i.e., 100..103, means the sales rules will be copied to the parts 100, 101, 102 and 103.  

When copying to a single part configuration revision, the system sets the latest tentative revision as default which can be manually changed to another revision if needed. When copying to multiple parts it is not possible to chose the revision and, in this case the sales rules will always be copied to the latest part configuration revision in the Tentative state. 

Sales rules are normally copied (re-used) to a part configuration revision in the Tentative status during the sales rules setup before they are released to be used for configuration. If you want to copy sales rules to a part configuration revision that is released, select the Allow Copy to Released Part Configuration Revisions check box. When enabled, the released part configuration revisions will be available in the list of values for the part. When copying to multiple parts it is possible to view the part configuration revisions that will be included.  

The sales rule for a part configuration revision or a template to be copied can be selected in the Rules to copy section, and it is also possible to decide if the copied sales rules will replace all sales rules or if the copied sales rules will be added in the tree structure after or before the existing sales rules.

Prerequisites

• IFS/Configuration Back Office and IFS/Configuration Characteristic must have been installed.
• A configuration family and the part configuration revision must exist to be referenced for the copy.

System Effects

A sales rule is created and associated with a sales rule template and/or a part configuration revision, depending on if the copy is made to a base part revision or to a template.

Procedure

Copy sales rules between two part configuration revisions:

1. Select a configuration family for the Config Family ID field from the List of Values.
2. Select Part in the Copy from area and use the List of Values to select the part to copy sales rules from.
3. Change the revision if the latest revision is not the correct revision.
4. In copy to area, select Part and use the List of Values to select the part to copy the sales rules to.
5. If the part or revision you want to copy sales rules to is in state Released, select the Allow copy to released part configuration revisions check box.  
6. Select the sales rules to be copied in the table Rules to copy table.
7. Chose how the sales rules should be added in the Copied rules will section.
8. Click OK or Apply to copy the sales rules.
