Connect Configuration Characteristic
Explanation
This activity is used to connect a configuration characteristic to
one or more configuration families. You can also connect the configuration
characteristic to one or more part configuration revisions.
Prerequisites
IFS/Configuration Back Office and IFS/Configuration
Characteristic must be installed.
System Effects
As a result of this activity, the configuration characteristic along with its
option values is connected to the given configuration family and/or part configuration
revision.

Procedure
From Configuration Characteristic Window
- Open the
Configuration Characteristic window and
query for the required configuration characteristic.
- Right-click on the header and then click Connect Characteristic To.
The Connect Configuration Characteristic
dialog box opens.
- Select the Connect check box for the required families in the upper table
(Configuration Family) in order to connect the characteristic to those families.
- Select the Connect check box for the required revisions in the lower table
(Part Configuration Revisions) to connect the characteristic to
those part configuration revisions.
- Click OK.
Note : Part Configuration Revisions (lower) table will be disabled if the
Config Value Type selected is equal to Package.
From Configuration Family Window
- Open the Configuration Family window and query for the required configuration family.
- Right-click on the Config Family Characteristic tab and then click
Connect Characteristic To. The Connect Configuration Characteristic dialog box opens.
- Select the Connect check box for the required families in the upper table
(Configuration Family) in order to connect the characteristic to those families.
- Select the Connect check box for the required revisions in the lower table
(Part Configuration Revisions) to connect the characteristic to those part configuration revisions.
- Click OK.
Note : If the Config Value Type is equal to Package, Package content characteristics and option values for Component Characteristic must exist in new Configuration Family and/or
Part Configuration Revision.
