Enter Document Object Connection Default Values

Explanation

Use this activity to enter rules for document-object default values when more advanced configuration is needed than what can be achieved using the central default values or the default values for a certain document class. For example, you can define default values for a combination of a certain document class and a certain business object type.

Prerequisites

System Effects

After configuring rules, the specified default values will be applied to new document-object connections.

Procedure

Registering a rule to match a certain document class and business object type.

Perform the following procedure if you want certain default values to be applied when a document of a certain class is connected to a business object of a certain type. In this procedure, the class 100 and the object type EquipmentFunctional will be used.

  1. Open the Document Object Connection Default Values window.
  2. Click New to create a new line. A new line should be created and a value for the Config No should be filled in automatically.
  3. In the Document Class field, enter a valid document class. Since the field supports wildcards to be entered there is no validation that the document class is valid. Example: Enter 100 as the document class.
  4. In the Lu Name field, enter the LU name for the business object type that should be affected by this rule. Since the field supports wildcards to be entered there is no validation that the LU name is valid. Example: Enter EquipmentFunctional as the LU name.
  5. In the Lu Key Ref field, leave the wildcard that was added when the line was added.
  6. In the Update Revision, Association Category or Connection Status fields, enter the default values you want to be applied from this rule. Use the List of Values or dropdowns as appropriate, to set valid default values. There are validations for all the value fields. If you leave a field empty, no default value will be applied from this rule. Then the system default values will be used, or the default values defined centrally or per a certain document class, will be used.
  7. Click Save.

Rules using wildcards in the Document Class or Lu Name fields

Use the same steps as in the previous procedure, but combine letters and wildcards when entering the values for Document Class or Lu Name. For example, if there are many document classes where the name starts with DRAWING, and you want to have the same rule for all those classes, enter DRAWING% as the value. Similarly, wildcards can be used for the Lu Name field.

Rules using wildcards in the Key Ref field

In more complex setups, you can also use wildcards in the Key Ref field, to get a more specific match on certain business objects. Example of a value for EquipmentFunctinal: CONTRACT=20^MCH_CODE=%. This value will make the rule match all equipment objects on site 20.

Wildcards can be used in all three condition fields, in different combinations.
