Evaluate Flagged Alternate and Incompatible Parts

Explanation

This activity is used to view any alternate parts and incompatible parts that have been flagged for evaluation, generally as a result of actioning changes.

For a configuration change source, when the last IPC mapping to an alternate part is removed on a part group, the last alternate part for which the mapping was removed is flagged for evaluation on the Configuration Change Source detail page, Flagged Alternate Parts for Evaluation tab. At this point, you can make manual changes to the part group, if required, to map an IPC item to the alternate part on the part group.

When a change source is the active change source for a part group and an alternate part in the part group had an incompatible part in another part group as per the imported configuration data, the alternate part will be flagged for evaluation on the Configuration Change Source detail page, Flagged Incompatible Parts for Evaluation tab. The active change source of the alternate part must be set as the active change source for the incompatible part's part group and the incompatible part will have to be copied as an incompatible part to the alternate part.

Prerequisites

• A configuration change source must exist in ReadyforReview or InProgress status.

System Effects

• If an IPC mapping is manually added to an alternate part on the part group, it is displayed in the Part Group details page, IPC Mapping tab and no longer listed in the Configuration Change Source details page, Flagged Alternate Parts for Evaluation tab.
• If an alternate part which was flagged as having incompatible parts for evaluation, had incompatible parts copied to it, the alternate part is no longer displayed in the Configuration Change Source details page, Flagged Incompatible Parts for Evaluation tab.

Procedure

To evaluate flagged alternate and incompatible parts:

1. Open the Configuration Change Sources page.
2. Select the configuration change source to be reviewed, and click Details on the menu to view the Configuration Change Source details page.
3. To view flagged alternate parts, click the Flagged Alternate Parts for Evaluation tab.
4. To view flagged incompatible parts, click the Flagged Incompatible Parts for Evaluation tab.

To copy incompatible parts to an alternate part:

1. Open the Part Group details page for the incompatible part.
2. Click Modify Change Source and select the same change source as the alternate part.
3. Open the Part Group details page for the alternate part.
4. Select the alternate part for which you want to copy incompatible parts and click Copy Incompatible Parts.
