Create Part Group

Explanation

This activity is used to create a new part group, generally as a result of a suggestion to do so originating from an IPC change source, or due to a manual change deemed necessary for a configuration change source that is not an IPC document.

Prerequisites

• Baseline configuration data must be loaded from IFS Maintenix.
• For IPC change sources, the engineering service partner must have uploaded the document with the suggested changes without upload errors.
• If the part group is being created via bulk accept, the criticality of the change set type should be Accept or Spot Check.

System Effects

• The new part group is created.

Procedure

To create new part groups via bulk accept:

1. Open the Configuration Change Source details page.
2. On the Changes Overview tab, select the change set to create a new part group.
3. Click Bulk Accept.

To create a change set for one part group at a time:

1. Open the Configuration Change Source details page.
2. On the Suggested New Part Groups tab, select the part group to be created.
3. Click Create Part Group.

To create a change set manually for a part group.

1. Open the Configuration Change Sources page.
2. Select the configuration change source for which you want to add the new part group.
3. Click Create Part Group in the task bar.
