Define Part Certificate Form Types

Explanation

This activity is used to define valid types of part certification forms. There are a variety of part certification forms used in the Aviation industry. These vary with the authority defining them, the type of work and type of component, however the content is mostly the same. A part certification form can be identified by its title and revision.

The part certification form types can be defined with a revision and layout per revision. It is also possible to indicate whether the form type will be used for vehicles (e.g., aircraft) or components/assemblies (e.g., aircraft engine).

Note that each maintenance organization can have any number of approvals from any number of issuers. However, only one approval per part certification form type per issuer can be active (i.e., no overlapping validity periods) at any given point in time. The part certification form types are defined as basic data through this activity.
